Superintendent February Words from the Superintendent

Welcome to 2012 and Happy New Year to each of you. With the beginning of a brand new calendar year and a quick approaching second semester, Odem-Edroy I.S.D. is back in session as of Wednesday, January 4th. This semester holds much opportunity and responsibility for critical learning of essential information for both students and staff. As we look at the month of January, it will be filled with many opportunities to “learn.” Our teachers will be participating in a full day of staff development opportunities on January 11th. This is an approved student holiday by the state for our teachers to work on specifically selected instructional topics. The day will be spent working on curriculum and sound instructional practices as well as, incorporating effective technology into the learning process to engage our learners. As I have stated before, I personally am an immigrant to “technology” and our students are “natives.” We must use technology effectively in the classroom as a tool to “capture” student interest and “engage” them in the instructional process.

I look forward to a very successful second semester here in Odem-Edroy I.S.D. and thank you for being part of our educational system by supporting our work and communicating with us the needs of the community at large and together, we can assure every student exceeds their potential in our district.
