With the launching of our one-to-one project at Odem-Edroy I.S.D., it is necessary for students to be able to connect to outside wireless access points. Connecting to unsecure wireless access points is easy; however, the user needs to be aware that the connection (passwords and bank access included) is sent unencrypted (easily traced). These connections should be safe enough for doing research and doing homework but you should not attempt to conduct business on an unsecure connection.
Note: When your school laptop is in range of our wireless network, you will not have to do any further configuration. You will also not be able to disconnect from our network to join another wireless network when our network is in range.
- To connect to an open wireless network, in the lower right hand corner you should see a wireless network icon similar to :
- A notification should appear stating that wireless networks are available.

- Click on the notification ballon, or double click on the wireless network icon
- Either option will open the Choose a wireless network dialog box; click on the appropriate network:

- A display will open indicating that the connection is being made:

- Upon successful connection your Wireless Network Icon should disappear.
To connect to a secure network, you would need to supply an access key when prompted
To connect to a non-braodcasting secure network, open the Control Panel from the Start:Settings menu. Open the Wireless Network Setup wizard and it will walk you through the process
