Connecting to An Open Wireless Access Network

The school district does not support personal internet connections. As a policy, we do not want tanyone to load 3rd party software to make internet connections as we can not guarantee the service nor how the software affects the current operations of the system.

  If a person has a wireless access point in their house that is transmitting the SID and is unsecure, they could try to follow the following steps:

1. Right click My Network Places
2. Select Properties
3. Double Click the Wireless Connection Icon
4. Click View Wireless Network
5. At this point any wireless connections that are available will appear, highlight the network to connect to and then click the Connect button at the bottom of the page.

  Some times this may have to be done twice.

  If no wireless network are registered, or the network is secure then specific instructions would need to be obtained from the group that set up the wireless network.

  Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to install special software on any district owned and/or maintained computer.
